The development of fully autonomous cars is still ongoing, with significant progress being made by companies such as Tesla, Google’s Waymo, and General Motors’ Cruise. However, there are still several technological and regulatory challenges that need to be addressed before autonomous cars can become a widespread reality, including improving the reliability and safety of autonomous systems, developing the necessary infrastructure to support autonomous vehicles, and addressing legal and ethical questions related to liability and responsibility in the event of accidents.
Overall, while significant progress has been made towards autonomous cars, we are still likely several years away from fully autonomous vehicles being widely available on public roads.
